Real Madrid Contact Chelsea Defender Josh Acheampong Over Potential Transfer
Real Madrid have reportedly made contact with Josh Acheampong’s representatives as they explore the possibility of signing the Chelsea defender in the future.
The 20-year-old has emerged as one of the most promising young defensive talents in European football, attracting interest from several major clubs. According to Fussball News, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have already approached his camp to discuss a potential move during an upcoming transfer window.
Acheampong has become increasingly important at Chelsea under Xabi Alonso, playing the full 90 minutes in each of the club’s last four matches. His performances have strengthened his position within the squad and further increased his profile across Europe.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich Lead the Interest
Real Madrid are not alone in their pursuit of the England Under-21 international. Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool are also reportedly monitoring his situation.
However, Fussball News identifies Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as the two clubs with the strongest interest, claiming that both have already made contact with the defender’s representatives.
Madrid’s attention comes as the Spanish giants prepare for another defensive rebuild ahead of the summer 2027 transfer window. Jacobo Ramón remains one of their preferred options, but Acheampong is also being considered as a potential long-term addition.
His versatility is particularly attractive. The Englishman can operate both as a centre-back and at right-back, making him well suited to systems that use three central defenders.
That flexibility has also proved valuable for Alonso at Chelsea, where the youngster has established himself as an important part of the defensive structure.
Chelsea Could Demand €50m for Acheampong
Chelsea are aware of the growing interest in their academy graduate and are reportedly preparing a new contract offer to secure his long-term future.
Acheampong joined the club’s academy at the age of eight and remains under contract until June 2029. The Blues are therefore in a strong negotiating position, although they are keen to avoid losing one of their most promising young players.
According to Fussball News, Chelsea could demand around €50 million to consider allowing the defender to leave.
That valuation could be within Real Madrid’s financial reach, particularly if they decide to prioritise strengthening their defence next summer. Nevertheless, there is currently no indication that Chelsea are prepared to sanction a departure.
Acheampong’s Future Becomes a Major Transfer Story
With several European heavyweights reportedly following his progress, Acheampong’s situation could become increasingly interesting over the coming months.
Chelsea want to keep the defender and are planning to offer him improved terms, while Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are understood to have taken initial steps to explore a possible transfer.
For now, Acheampong remains focused on his development at Stamford Bridge. However, with a reported €50m valuation and growing interest from Europe’s elite, his future could become one of the stories to follow ahead of the summer 2027 transfer window.
