Bursaspor Open Door to Kelechi Iheanacho Sale Amid Fenerbahçe Interest
Bursaspor are prepared to consider a major transfer offer for Kelechi Iheanacho, with club president Enes Çelik admitting that an exceptional proposal could convince them to sell their Nigerian striker.
Despite reported interest from Turkish giants Fenerbahçe, Çelik has made it clear that keeping the 30-year-old remains his preferred outcome. However, the Bursaspor president also stressed that the club must consider its financial interests if a substantial offer arrives.
Iheanacho has made an outstanding start to his career in Turkey since joining Bursaspor in July 2026. The former Manchester City and Leicester City forward has scored 16 goals in 12 league appearances during the 2026-27 campaign, adding three assists.
His impressive form has also continued at international level, scoring for Nigeria in a friendly against Russia. His overall return now stands at 17 goals in 13 appearances for club and country.
Bursaspor President Addresses Fenerbahçe Interest
Iheanacho’s performances have reportedly attracted attention from Fenerbahçe, raising questions about whether Bursaspor will be able to retain their leading goalscorer.
Speaking to Gol TV, Çelik acknowledged that supporters would strongly oppose a potential departure but insisted that the club’s management must approach the situation rationally.
“If a poll were conducted, 99% would say he absolutely shouldn’t be sold. I understand that, but we’re not just looking at it emotionally. We also have to look at the situation logically. Iheanacho is a player who scores goals when there’s no real chance,” he said, as quoted by Turkinform.
The president reiterated that he wants the Nigerian to remain at the club, although he would be willing to evaluate an offer that represents exceptional value for Bursaspor.
“I want him to stay in the team more than anyone. But there might be some absurd figures involved. If there are, we, as the management, will evaluate them. Ultimately, we set out to do what’s right for the club,” Çelik explained.
Iheanacho Wants to Generate Significant Revenue for Bursaspor
Çelik also revealed that Iheanacho understands the importance of securing a substantial transfer fee for Bursaspor if he eventually leaves.
According to the club president, the striker is also interested in ensuring that any departure provides considerable financial benefits to the Turkish side.
“We’ve tried to make grounded, rational decisions. In that respect, the right offer, or rather, an offer far beyond the right one, is not something that will easily leave us. Meanwhile, he also wants to bring a lot of money to the club,” he added.
Although Çelik refused to reveal Bursaspor’s exact valuation, he suggested that only an extraordinary proposal would convince the club to sanction a transfer.
He also praised Iheanacho’s character and expressed his hope that the forward would maintain his outstanding performances and help Bursaspor achieve their ambitions this season.
“He’s a really good character. It wouldn’t be right to give a specific figure, but if it’s a figure that satisfies everyone, you can be sure it will be a figure that will make people say, ‘He’ll be sold for that amount.’ Hopefully, his performance will continue and we’ll lift the championship trophy,” he concluded.
Fenerbahçe Could Face Expensive Negotiations
For now, Bursaspor’s priority remains keeping their prolific striker as they pursue the championship. However, Çelik’s comments suggest that the club would not completely rule out a departure if an extraordinary financial offer arrived.
Fenerbahçe’s reported interest could therefore develop into an intriguing transfer situation, although the Turkish giants would likely need to present a significant proposal to persuade Bursaspor to part ways with their most important attacking player.
Iheanacho’s remarkable scoring form has considerably strengthened his position, and his future could become one of the major talking points in the Turkish transfer market ahead of the next window.
