Atlético Madrid and Real Sociedad Join Race for Benfica Talent Daniel Banjaqui
Atlético Madrid and Real Sociedad are among several European clubs monitoring Benfica youngster Daniel Banjaqui, who has attracted growing attention after making his first appearances for the Portuguese club’s senior team.
The 18-year-old right-back has reportedly emerged as a target for at least eight clubs across Europe, with Brighton, Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus, AS Roma, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund also linked with the defender. The information was reported by Ekrem Konur, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
Benfica Protect Banjaqui With €45m Release Clause
Benfica are in a strong negotiating position, with Banjaqui under contract until June 2031. His deal reportedly includes a €45 million release clause, meaning any club seeking to sign him could face a substantial financial commitment.
However, Konur reportedly suggests that an offer in the region of €35 million could be enough to open negotiations with the Portuguese side. No formal bid or agreement has been confirmed.
A Promising Right-Back Attracting European Interest
Despite having made only six appearances for Benfica’s first team, Banjaqui has already drawn attention for his physical qualities and ability to contribute in attack without neglecting his defensive responsibilities.
The defender has also featured regularly in Portugal’s youth national teams. With several clubs reportedly following his progress, the coming months could prove important in determining whether interest develops into a concrete transfer pursuit.
For now, Benfica remain in control of the situation, with Banjaqui’s long-term contract and reported release clause likely to play a key role in any potential deal.
